If you have not followed all the news, here is a summary of rumors about the most expected Android phones of the moment, but also the next iPhone.

The big launches of 2018

Obviously, all these dates are to take with big tweezers. How did we determine them? By taking into account the rumors as well as the dates of the exits of the old models.

  • Nokia 9 - launch expected 19 January 2018
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 - potential launch in February 2018
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini - launch possible in February 2018

Obviously, we do not have the same degree of information on the different models, so we have grouped only part of the smartphones following the file.

Samsung Galaxy S9

The spring of 2018 should be an opportunity for Samsung to launch its new flagship. According to early rumors, it would include a 4G modem at 1.2 Gb / s, a fingerprint reader in the back , and would be one of the first smartphones to benefit from the new generation Snapdragon 845 chip . Moreover, we could discover much earlier Galaxy S9, it could be announced at the Mobile World Congress in late February / early March. If you are interested in the smartphone, we have grouped everything we know about the Galaxy S9 into a dedicated folder .

To counter the release of the iPhone X, Samsung could also propose a mini version of its Galaxy S9 , a rumor that comes back every year, but this time is a little more believable. The iPhone X has the advantage of offering a chassis much more compact than the Galaxy S8.

LG G7

Until then, LG's latest smartphone is the V30 , which arrived very late in France (in December 2017). If no conference is organized in January, the launch of the LG G7 will most likely be held at the MWC 2018, the LG conference could be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018. This is our best estimate based on the fact that both LG G6 and LG G5 were launched at MWC, the Barcelona show. However, a rumor suggests that it could actually happen in January to beat the Samsung Galaxy S9. Few rumors around this LG G7, it should ship the Snapdragon 845 , without big surprises, as well as an iris scanner .

Nokia 9

The new Nokia 8 has been announced in 2017, but we are still waiting for an announcement on the Nokia 9, which should be the most exciting of the two. It would be an improved version of the Nokia 8 with a larger 5.7-inch 18: 9 screen, but the latest images (of the supposed Nokia 9) show a standard 16: 9 screen. HMD has twice confirmed the development of a larger and more innovative smartphone than the Nokia 8 released in September 2017 . The Nokia 9 benefits include an OLED screen edge and Android 8.0 Oreo. Onleaks has already unveiled what should be the design of the phone through several plans made in synthetic images. This suggests that the announcement of the phone is close, but it is rare that brands launch novelties, especially in the high-end, in December.

Motorola Moto Z3

Motorola is the latest maker to not have unveiled a new high-end smartphone earlier this year. In July, Motorola announced its Z2 Play . We tested it. The Moto Z3 would incorporate a 5.5-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It would run Android 7.1.1 Nougat and still be compatible with Moto Mods.

Huawei P11

It will certainly be announced at the MWC 2018, the P11 will be the successor of the P10 . Like the Mate 10 Pro , it should benefit from the chip Kirin 970. We know very little about the P11, but rumors suggest that he could copy the last flagship of the sister company Honor, the View 10 , and give up the headphone jack 3.5 mm. Rumors announce 3 photo sensors in the back , still in partnership with the German manufacturer Leica, and a similar design to the iPhone X.

OnePlus 6

After a OnePlus 5T whose two major novelties were this 18: 9 design and a partial redesign of the photography part on the back of the smartphone, the OnePlus 6 is highly anticipated. It is likely that the fingerprint sensor is under the screen, Synaptics has already announced its technology that will be integrated on a smartphone brand Vivo - note of hope for fans of OnePlus - Vivo is part of the same Chinese group that OnePlus and Oppo: BBK Electronics. Today is the only serious rumor .

RED Hydrogen One

The high-end camera specialist, RED, is entering the smartphone market and intends to mark the market with its arrival. The manufacturer has unveiled that its first device would have a "holographic" screen and would be able to compete with SLR cameras , just that ...

Samsung Galaxy X: the foldable smartphone

2018 could be the beginning of the war of folding-screen smartphones. All manufacturers are interested in the subject and some, such as Microsoft , Nokia or LG , have already filed patents to protect their future products.

Samsung seems to be the manufacturer with the most advance, since in addition to having filed several patents, he announced his ambition to release a product in 2018 . The project is known as the Samsung Galaxy X code, but very little information has leaked about its features. It is thought that this will be a smartphone able to unfold to become a tablet .

The iPhone 2018

It's hard to know what the next iPhone will look like, which is due out in September 2018, like every year. Analysts and early rumors agree that Apple should release two new smartphones, one small and one larger, as every year. These new iPhone would replace the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus of the current range, but would benefit from some features of the iPhone X as the OLED screen edge and front sensor TrueDepth Face ID.
