new phones coming out: Nokia Lumia 930

new phones coming out: Nokia Lumia 930
More than any other feature of the Lumia smartphone range, the new phones coming out 930 is a symbol. That a transition between Nokia and Microsoft Mobile. First flagship to promote Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Cyan, it bears the marks of an ambitious two-headed strategy, but clearly influenced by Microsoft.

Microsoft has certainly been interventionist during the few years that lasted its industrial partnership with Nokia. Slowly but surely, the Finnish manufacturer has moved away from its conductive lines introduced in 2011 with the Lumia 800. Round and tapered lines, similar to those of N9, the only Meego smartphone Nokia. Lines that Nokia has maintained throughout the three years of virtual independence, with the Lumia 720, 820, 920, 1020 and 1520. Already with the Lumia 925, some differences appear. With the 930, the step is far more pronounced. As if Microsoft had not yet taken on Nokia during the development of this mobile announced a few days before the actual redemption of Devices & Services business which it is today form Microsoft Mobile.

A datasheet of a high-end ... 2013?

The data sheet reflects the desire of Microsoft to impose the new version of its operating system with a symbolic smartphone. Here are the details:
  •      ClearBlack AMOLED screen Full HD 5 inch (441 dots per inch)
  •      Protection of the touchscreen with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  •      Chipset quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.2 GHz 800
  •      Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 450 MHz
  •      2 GB of RAM
  •      32 GB of internal storage (not expandable)
  •      (Not removable) 2420 mAh battery
  •      Main photo sensor Carl Zeiss Pureview 20 megapixel camera with flash and optical True Tone opening to f/2.4 (1080p video capture at 30 frames per second)
  •      Port Nano SIM
  •      1.2 megapixel webcam with optical opening to f/2.4
  •      Compatible LTE 150 Mb / s, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Qi wireless charging, GPS
  •      Windows Phone 8.1 operating system with Cyan Lumia
  •      Thickness (perceived): 9.8 mm
  •      Weight 167 grams

Three small comments on this sheet. First, you will notice that Microsoft Mobile didn't want to push forward the use of self-portrait by limiting the definition 720p webcam. Then, it is surprising to find in a mid-year led by Snapdragon 800, while his successor is present in all competitors and that the next generation already toque at the door flagship. This apparently has no consequence on the performance of the smartphone, as we shall see. Finally, the thickness is 9.8 mm announced 'felt'. We understand that this is a marketing trick, because in truth, the mobile is much thicker. However, the curvatures of the screen and the casing must provide a print of a lesser thickness.

A "guy" Design

As we noted in the introduction, the Lumia 930 is very different from other high-end Lumia family. And much to say right now: it seems to us far less subtle, more gruff. A mobile "guy" in some way (without seeming pejorative). We find some similarities with the predecessors, such as the screen slightly rounded on the sides embedded in the chassis, a curvature which corresponds to that of the rear plastic shell. As the Lumia 925, the upper and lower edges are decorated with small lines of separation. Nokia is therefore an effort to give benchmarks.
new Nokia Lumia 930
Seen from the front, though the mobile is much more square. First, because the glass plate is now into corners (unlike predecessors, where the corners of the screen and the chassis were different). However, the edges remain fairly wide on the sides, but is thinned on top. Below the screen, you will find the touch area with the navigation keys. Funny that Microsoft hasn't bothered to virtualize its touches like Android.

At the rear, it is very simple. Thanks to the flare of the hull, the photo sensor 20 is no longer protruding megapixels. This immovable shell, you will find the speaker, bottom right, and microphone (for the phone down and to reduce noise above). You will notice the absence of mandatory CE code on products sold in European area. The latter was deported on the bottom edge of each side of the microUSB port.
 Nokia Lumia 930 right
Let's turn the other slices. On the left, nothing. On the right, the volume coming out of standby and the dedicated photo button. Great idea to keep a Nokia hardware button to accompany a photo sensor 20 megapixels. Top, 3.5mm jack port and location for nano SIM card. The contour of the smartphone is metal. This has an advantage and a disadvantage. On one hand, this ensures a sturdy construction of the mobile, the printing reinforced unibody design. On the other hand, it radiates more heat if the chipset tends to heat. And indeed, the Snapdragon 800 has this flaw.
The CE mark is hidden on the bottom edge
The CE mark is hidden on the bottom edge

Grip frank and assured

At the grip, the mobile fits comfortably in the hand. The grip is ensured with the feeling of having something really in the palm. We noticed a small clearance between the rear seat and contour. But nothing major. However, the massive design 930 makes use of a 5-inch hand more difficult than on other smartphones, including the Nexus 5.

The AMOLED screen is beautiful. The colors are bright (maybe a bit too). The brightness is good. The viewing angles are open. And blacks are deep. Sometimes a little too much. The contrast ratio is also excellent. Visually, it is difficult to find fault with this screen that provides a clear picture. Even without zooming, it is still possible to read the character of the home page of our site, it said. Slab slides right under the fingers and responds quickly to requests. This mobile is very nice for everyday use, although we regret still a pretty awesome design.

Windows 8.1 on board with Cyan Nokia

As indicated above, the operating system is Windows Phone 8.1 accompanied by Nokia Lumia Cyan software suite. Needless to reconsider the benefits of Cyan Lumia, or on improvements to Windows Phone 8.1. We invite you to refer to the various articles on these subjects. Be aware that the system is perfectly smooth on the Lumia 930 and the platform, perhaps a little dated, but still upscale. When you see that Windows Phone 8.1 works on quad-core Snapdragon 1.2 GHz 200, the task is almost too easy for the Snapdragon 800 ...
Beyond Skype, Xbox Live, Xbox Music, Bing (without Cortana yet), Internet Explorer, Outlook.com, OneDrive or Office, you will find here the range of Nokia: Here, Travel Book, Camera (discussed in the photo section) or MixMusic. To complete an offer via Social App, for example, you offer others from Nokia or third-party. The Lumia 930 also préembarque some of them: 20minutes.fr, BazarChic, The Weather Team fr chain The PagesJaunes, Viadeo, Facebook, or Vine Voyages-sncf..
 Nokia Lumia 930 application

A small overheating when it is requested

As indicated above, the performance of Snapdragon 800 are well proven. Difficult however to make a technical comparison with Android smartphones. We confine our general impressions. The whole system is fluid and we experienced no slowdown. However, in very specific use (gaming, downloading, video), the mobile began to heat up, which feels at the metal contour (particularly in the lower right corner. Those days when we conducted our tests, the summer moved on Paris. This could play. But we noticed the same behavior on other smartphones Snapdragon 800, like the Nexus 5, for example.
Nokia Lumia 930 game
This trait has unfortunately ruined our gaming experience, which, however, left many thanks to Xbox Live, which enriches every week. Our part of Angry Birds Epic has also held that on Xperia Z2. Except that the mobile has started to heat up. This has cut our session. In video, mobile heated much more slowly. I must say that the Windows Phone platform isn't known to be more open in terms of codecs. So we settled for a 1080p MP4 movie. Very pleasing to the eye, the New Lumia 930 phones coming out is a little less ear. The speaker is really powerful, to the contrary. We had to increase the volume to near maximum to hear the dialogues ... Too bad.
Nokia Lumia 930 video

An excellent camera!

Photo, the result is far better. Like its predecessors, the new 930 phones coming out is built for photo. First, because the Nokia Camera application is really excellent (the native application for Windows Phone 8.1 is not bad, but less complete). The available settings are diverse and varied and will delight those looking to replace their compact camera with a smartphone. The integration of external filters (see below) point the camera application Sony Xperia. The grip of the application is improved by the hardware button that we appreciate so much.
nokia lumia 930 photo
Especially as the result of the photos is up to the expectations. A very good light management. A superb dive. No annoying aberration in the corners (they are inevitable, but the Carl Zeiss sensor compensates well). Colors observed. Detail, even when zooming. In short, it is really good. And to add to this excellent photographic record, upcoming 930 phones saves photos in low resolution (to share from the mobile) and high resolution (to save and to print).

A good high-end, but not impeccable

The Upcoming Nokia 930 is undoubtedly a very good high-end smartphone running Windows Phone, even if the design can be debated, because frankly slice with other high-end Lumia. We were a little disappointed with some of the details, of course. Heating when the smartphone Snapdragon 800 is overworked. Weak mono speaker.

But the qualities of the smartphone up for it easily. The screen. The camera. Native applications from Nokia. The fluidity of the entire system. And greater autonomy for the day (despite a powerful battery that not), even 4G, but if you don't play. Is the price: from 530 to 550 euros before subsidies. The price is honest without being real big deal, like a OnePlus One. Maybe he will wait a little promotion before being tempted ...

Galaxy S5, Gear Fit, Nokia X and Xperia Z2

While the Mobile World Congress in full swing, it is impossible for us not to talk announcements from Samsung, Sony and Nokia.
But it is also connected accessories which will be discussed in today's show.

As it is purely personal headband connected and anklet that I look most looking forward to have a truly complete range with my wrist that will tell me if I smell feet, my head, my measure heart and my ankle that will tell me how my head. Then and only then, I'll swim in happiness connected in all its splendor with monitoring my health insured directly from a super computer in the basement of the White House. Anyway, here's our recap of the first day of MWC in the # freshnews day.

Samsung introduces the New Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit phones coming out

And now it's done, the new Galaxy S5 phones coming out has finally been officially presented. Fortunately for many of us no longer able to sleep as the suspense was unbearable. The facade of the S5 is almost identical to the S4 though it is slightly larger. Two touch buttons and a home button that also acts as a fingerprint reader, which is essential to the keke evening with the ability to make purchases or to switch to private mode found under the screen.
Galaxy S5
This is the back of the device that stands out the most because Samsung chose a material giving a faux leather stamped appearance which greatly improves the grip. Clement whispers in the atrium for the trolls, this is the special texture dressing. A heart rate sensor has been added under the photo sensor. Note also that the S5 waterproof and dustproof. Processor, camera and battery ahead of course very powerful, all technical details in our dedicated section. New S5 phones coming out should be available for sale from April 11 to an unknown price.

Side accessories wrist, you spoke yesterday Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, but Samsung returned to the charge, this time on the market bracelets connected. The Gear Fit runs Tizen and features a curved screen and 1.84 inch round. Besides the classical notifications bracelet reads your heart rate and will be equipped with an accelerometer as a gyroscope. It may therefore warn you if you ever walk upside down, for example, which can always be handy to not have the ankles swell. Note that the bracelet Gear Fit is both lightweight and hypoallergenic, what a shame for fans of mycoses.

Nokia goes Android

Nokia's start with that, as rumor suggested, ended up spending Android. With models X, X Plus and XL, the Finnish manufacturer seeks to retain some specific Windows Phone as tiles or notifications fastlane center while enjoying the Android platform. However, Google has not certified the Nokia X, which will therefore don't have a prior access to Google Play . However Nokia promises to provide the most popular applications, without more is known at this time. What is certain is that the phone will benefit from applications Microsoft Skype or as OneDrive Here Maps. Mails for Outlook and it will therefore not Gmail.
Nokia X
Six months after the beginnings of redemption by Microsoft and a few weeks before its realization brand therefore seeks to reconcile the two worlds to keep the best, all at entry level prices. In fact, the Nokia X will be available for sale at 119 euros and XL, a 5-inch phone will arrive on the market in the spring to 149 euros. I must say that the Lumia, more upscale but only Windows Phone had been commercial failures in spite of certain qualities. Time will tell if this strategy enables Nokia to regain some of its luster.

Sony Unveils Xperia Z2

On the other flagship now turn to the new Xperia Z2 phones coming out, the high-end Sony. With a 5.2 inch screen for 158 grams, the water resistant smartphone as dust appears no less than 3 GB of RAM with a quad core processor at 2.3 Ghz. The camera is 20.7 megapixels and shoots in 4K or 120 frames per second in 720p. Z2 also propose a system of noise reduction should be significant for the convenience of contacts that you call from the party to dork or one of many shootings in which you participate. Available in black, white and purple, Xperia Z2 is announced at 700 euros, and finally 699 in marketing release. Small flat perhaps internal storage is limited to 16GB.

New Phones Coming Out In 2018

The mobile phone sector is constantly boiling and especially in constant renewal. Smartphones follow one another and are often very similar, but that does not prevent us from waiting for some models impatiently. If you have not followed all the news, here is a summary of rumors about the most expected Android phones of the moment, but also the next iPhone.

The big launches of 2018

Obviously, all these dates are to take with big tweezers. How did we determine them? By taking into account the rumors as well as the dates of the exits of the old models.

  • LG G7 - potential launch in January or February 2018
  • Nokia 9 - launch expected 19 January 2018
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 - potential launch in February 2018
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini - launch possible in February 2018
  • Sony Xperia XZ1 Premium - launch possible in February 2018
  • Huawei P11 - potential launch in February 2018
  • OnePlus 6 - launch expected for March 2018
  • Razer Phone L - launch expected for April 2018, it would be a less expensive smartphone but less powerful
  • HTC U12 - potential launch in May 2018
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9 - launch expected for August 2019
  • Google Pixel 3 - potential launch on October 4, 2018
  • Apple iPhone 2018 - launch in September 2018
  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 - potential launch in September 2018

Obviously, we do not have the same degree of information on the different models, so we have grouped only part of the smartphones following the file.

Samsung Galaxy S9

The spring of 2018 should be an opportunity for Samsung to launch its new flagship. According to early rumors, it would include a 4G modem at 1.2 Gb / s, a fingerprint reader in the back , and would be one of the first smartphones to benefit from the new generation Snapdragon 845 chip . Moreover, we could discover much earlier Galaxy S9, it could be announced at the Mobile World Congress in late February / early March. If you are interested in the smartphone, we have grouped everything we know about the Galaxy S9 into a dedicated folder .

To counter the release of the iPhone X, Samsung could also propose a mini version of its Galaxy S9 , a rumor that comes back every year, but this time is a little more believable. The iPhone X has the advantage of offering a chassis much more compact than the Galaxy S8.

LG G7

Until then, LG's latest smartphone is the V30 , which arrived very late in France (in December 2017). If no conference is organized in January, the launch of the LG G7 will most likely be held at the MWC 2018, the LG conference could be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018. This is our best estimate based on the fact that both LG G6 and LG G5 were launched at MWC, the Barcelona show. However, a rumor suggests that it could actually happen in January to beat the Samsung Galaxy S9. Few rumors around this LG G7, it should ship the Snapdragon 845 , without big surprises, as well as an iris scanner .

Nokia 9

The new Nokia 8 has been announced in 2017, but we are still waiting for an announcement on the Nokia 9, which should be the most exciting of the two. It would be an improved version of the Nokia 8 with a larger 5.7-inch 18: 9 screen, but the latest images (of the supposed Nokia 9) show a standard 16: 9 screen. HMD has twice confirmed the development of a larger and more innovative smartphone than the Nokia 8 released in September 2017 . The Nokia 9 benefits include an OLED screen edge and Android 8.0 Oreo. Onleaks has already unveiled what should be the design of the phone through several plans made in synthetic images. This suggests that the announcement of the phone is close, but it is rare that brands launch novelties, especially in the high-end, in December.

Motorola Moto Z3

Motorola is the latest maker to not have unveiled a new high-end smartphone earlier this year. In July, Motorola announced its Z2 Play . We tested it. The Moto Z3 would incorporate a 5.5-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It would run Android 7.1.1 Nougat and still be compatible with Moto Mods.

Huawei P11

It will certainly be announced at the MWC 2018, the P11 will be the successor of the P10 . Like the Mate 10 Pro , it should benefit from the chip Kirin 970. We know very little about the P11, but rumors suggest that he could copy the last flagship of the sister company Honor, the View 10 , and give up the headphone jack 3.5 mm. Rumors announce 3 photo sensors in the back , still in partnership with the German manufacturer Leica, and a similar design to the iPhone X.

OnePlus 6

After a OnePlus 5T whose two major novelties were this 18: 9 design and a partial redesign of the photography part on the back of the smartphone, the OnePlus 6 is highly anticipated. It is likely that the fingerprint sensor is under the screen, Synaptics has already announced its technology that will be integrated on a smartphone brand Vivo - note of hope for fans of OnePlus - Vivo is part of the same Chinese group that OnePlus and Oppo: BBK Electronics. Today is the only serious rumor .

RED Hydrogen One

The high-end camera specialist, RED, is entering the smartphone market and intends to mark the market with its arrival. The manufacturer has unveiled that its first device would have a "holographic" screen and would be able to compete with SLR cameras , just that ...

Samsung Galaxy X: the foldable smartphone

2018 could be the beginning of the war of folding-screen smartphones. All manufacturers are interested in the subject and some, such as Microsoft , Nokia or LG , have already filed patents to protect their future products.

Samsung seems to be the manufacturer with the most advance, since in addition to having filed several patents, he announced his ambition to release a product in 2018 . The project is known as the Samsung Galaxy X code, but very little information has leaked about its features. It is thought that this will be a smartphone able to unfold to become a tablet .

The iPhone 2018

It's hard to know what the next iPhone will look like, which is due out in September 2018, like every year. Analysts and early rumors agree that Apple should release two new smartphones, one small and one larger, as every year. These new iPhone would replace the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus of the current range, but would benefit from some features of the iPhone X as the OLED screen edge and front sensor TrueDepth Face ID.

However, far from abandoning the range of devices , Microsoft is already on the floor and his successor might reveal quite quickly.

Catching a disappointing first model

However, if the announcement of the New phones coming out Nokia X2 could respond quickly, it's just that Microsoft should definitely come fill the disappointment of his first model. Indeed, was equipped with a Snapdragon S4 processor Play, an architecture that uses a CPU Cortex- A5 double heart 1GHz Adreno 203 GPU as well as , all supported by 512 or 768 MB of RAM. However , all lacked power and especially flow , both of which should be greatly improved .
According to the first information we have shipped the device should a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 , 302 clocked dual-core Cortex- A7 1.2 Ghz and an Adreno GPU and 1GB of RAM. If this is the case , we would have the same architecture as the excellent Motorola Moto E and we can therefore expect good things.

Nokia 3310, Motorola StarTAC, Ericsson T29

Lekki! This name means nothing to you? Nokia 3310, Nokia 8210, Motorola Startac, it certainly speaks to you more. Lekki is the company that has decided to revive our old cell phones of the 90s, riding the wave of the vintage. A phenomenon that is becoming increasingly important at a time when smartphone manufacturers continue to race performance.
In this ultra-connected world, the old (but not only) return to their first love, tired of this ubiquitous technology. Followers of saying "a phone call is made to" those users store their smartphones in a drawer and resume old habits.

But what motivates them to work this backwards? Why this phenomenon, which is beginning to affect the mid peoples, it is becoming increasingly important? Fad or real will to mark a pause in this world where technology is developing so fast that it eventually exceeds us back on this phenomenon and what drives users to trade their smartphones against an old Motorola StarTAC 130.

Too technology kills Technology

The first motivation of users to abandon their smartphone is the overflow technology. By trying to convince consumers that they need all these devices, manufacturers eventually cause an overdose. Smartphones, tablets and now connected objects, this is too much .

Some say "stop" and as an affront to the big firms in the world, they make a 180 degree turn. These larger screens, more beautiful, more powerful of these products, more efficient, faster, all they have had enough. A phone that is done primarily to make calls.

This "back to basics" occurs because manufacturers ended up giving nausea to many users. They wanted to force-feed consumers as geese, without listening to their needs but their creating. And after smartphones are connected objects they want to impose . Today some refuse to be dictated their consumption patterns.

Back to basics

This race performance more tired these users, since improvements in smartphones ignore their needs. Some fundamentals are completely forgotten.

First strength. Fashion ever end smartphones illustrates this forgotten builders. By trying to force chasing the finesse we forget that a smartphone should be solid. The Bendgate demonstrates the weakness of our smartphones.

Mobile phones 90s are rock solid. You can drop your 3310 fourth floor, it will shock (yes that's a slight exaggeration). The sad thing is that the technologies exist to make our smartphones durable products .

Another desirable feature: autonomy. Certainly, smartphones are real pocket computers, we can not expect a week of autonomy as our old phones 90s But it is above all the manufacturers approach that is described here.

Every year, new devices are marketed but none stands out for autonomy. At the most one takes a day and a half on average. While technological developments agree, but users would like them to go in the direction of their needs.

The issue of personal data

It is no secret that using our smartphones requires significant data flow. Including, of course, our personal data. It's simple, everything related directly or indirectly to our privacy through our smartphone address, identity, bank information, social networks etc.

And the latest information about the safety of these data is not reassuring. Several studies show that our data is more accessible . Builders and developers of OS do not work enough to strengthen their security. And even if the user also has its share of responsibility, it is not supposed to be a digital security expert to use their smartphone.

Feeble autonomy, robustness to review, lack of security? It was enough for those who are already tired of all this technology. A phone 90s, it's tough, it recharges only once a week, and no chance to see their personal information hacked.

Lekki: reference telephone vintage

The Lekki company saw this coming tired of some users and has surfed the wave of "low-tech". Whether by conformism or out of the standardization of smartphones (they all look alike, whereas before they were easily recognizable, work on design was necessary to stand out) users clearly show their nostalgia.

And to regain their former sensations, they are willing to pay the price. Because even if the first models are relatively accessible (80 $ for a Nokia 8210) for other prices soar. A simple Ericsson T29 is sold 180$. Motorola StarTAC 130 legendary sold 499 $! It's almost the price of a high-end smartphone like the Moto X in 2014 for example

In any case, the phenomenon seduced and even the stars are getting into. Whether the editor of US Vogue, Anna Wintour view with a flip phone, Rihanna, Iggy Pop or the New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, all have stood their old drawer phones. And you, a return to the 90s, anyone?
